The Creation of the BACnet France Association
Under the leadership of the President of the Automation, Climate Engineering and Regulation for Energy Efficiency in Buildings Trade Organization (ACR), a group of French industrialists decided, in 2007, to create the BACnet France Association to allow manufacturers to promote this protocol in France with the support of the BACnet Interest Group Europe.
The association has three priorities:
Training
Training on BACnet protocol seems essential to us and meets a growing demand.
The priority was to certify Agilicom’s training modules to the BACnet protocol. The various BACnet players now have the opportunity to participate in these training modules. We have been working on training modules dedicated to planners. BACnet France is developing demonstration models with Agilicom, which will allow simulations of the operation of automatic regulators, variators, and controllers with BACnet. New models are also being developed to serve as training support. The association also wishes to contribute to strengthening the teaching of this protocol within training courses for engineering professions, climate engineering technicians, and housing management.
Information
We are working on media support (vidéos) that allow demystification of the protocols based on each learner’s needs: investors, design offices, project managers, integrators, installers and finally the users. Indeed, the explanations on the opening of the protocol, thanks to the standardization of BACS-oriented BACnet objects, its multiple possibilities of application in different layers, and the families of services associated with it must be adapted to everyone’s needs, at the risk of discouraging its implementation. We are developing tools and support resources to meet this wide variety of expectations.
Communication
We participate in numerous tradeshows and events to explain our actions, the perfect interoperability of the protocol, its ease of integration into an existing building, the importance of certification, and its deployment within the regulatory framework (“BACS decrees”). We go to meet students and teachers when requested and annually publish a BACnet France Journal, which traces the integration of buildings by our BACnet members, their new products, and news from the BACnet world.
